Review of Quantum of Solace (2008) by Tim S — 28 Dec 2013
Quantum of Solace is the follow up to the highly successful re-energizing of the James Bond film franchise with Daniel Craig in the lead and is a direct sequel to Casino Royale. And if I'm not mistaken, it's the first film to actually do that.
While the film does have some problems, I think many of them are outweighed by the fact that I still found it an enjoyable movie to watch. I like it that we have a Bond who is being driven by thoughts of revenge for losing someone close to him from the previous film.
It's nice to see some character being programmed into him for once. The action scenes are there, of course, but some do feel a bit too over the top this time, employing some unnecessary use of CGI.
But overall, I enjoyed the movie and found the outcome to be satisfying. It's not a perfect movie, but none of these movies will ever get things perfect on all sides. People waiting for something like that are just foolish.
