Review of Quantum of Solace (2008) by Siddhartha B — 21 Dec 2014
After the masterpiece that was Casino Royale you would have thought that it would be followed up with another great Bond movie. Wrong instead we got Marc Forster directing an art house James Bond movie.
This is probably the worst of the James Bond movies (that I've seen all the way through). This is one of the most dissapointing movies ever. There's so much to be desired. The action is usually great in the Bond movies however in this movie the action is so horribly filmed it's awful.
True we do have a great car chase and the end action scene was decent, but it's got nothing on the action in Casino Royale. The script is also awful, this film was made in the writers strike so I can forgive that.
The film is also gritty and it's really not a fun thing to watch. Also we get one of the worst villains of the franchise, Dominic Green, he's not strong, he's not origina, he poses little threat to Bond and he's just terrible.
His henchman Elvis is also terrible, the only remarkable thing about him is the bowl haircut. Luckily though the film has redeeming qualities. Daniel Craig as usual is fantastic, he's just a brilliant Bond, you can see after the events of Casino Royale he's been very affected.
We also get a good Bond girl played by the gorgeous Olga Kurylenko. Unfortunately though it's not enough to save this terrible movie. D+.
