Review of Quantum of Solace (2008) by Brandon W — 06 Nov 2016
For Quantum of Solace, I remember that people hated it, when I first saw it a few years ago, I didn't understand why and had a lot of fun with it, but when I watch it again today, I can sort of see why people didn't like it, but I still thought it was a bit of a fun to watch. Daniel Craig is great as always, and Olga Kurylenko is really good Bond girl. The theme song is honestly forgettable and doesn't fit in it with the James Bond film. The action sequences are impressive to watch, but there's a bit too much of it and it sort of takes over the plot, where in Casino Royale there's enough action in it, but still is about the story. The plot is not as good as the previous film, but I still like it fine for its own movie. The villain is pretty weak and just come up as a whiny business guy who knows how to play hard. I do like the chemistry between Daniel and Olga and does seem like a worthy addition to the film's advantage. I wasn't actually bothered by the dark tone of the film like many people actually do as it seems like that is the way to go through it, although I do wish that they could've made James Bond a little bit more smarter instead of creating a main character that just goes on a revenge spree. It is a bit all over the place in terms of the plot and really could've just been about 2 main stories instead of just 4. While Quantum.
Of Solace is the weakest James Bond movie from Daniel Craig so far, which Skyfall really redeemed the series, I still like it fine to find enjoyment in this film, even though it has a bit too much style over substance for me.
