Review of Quantum of Solace (2008) by Geraldo G — 12 Mar 2013
Quantum certainly goes a step back from it's prequel Casino Royale. The characters are not so interesting and most of them are likely killed by both Bond and the story. The villian isn't much fun, it's the classic and most clichéd leader with a bad humor and huge ambitions.
The Bond girls are weak, a huge let down after the strong Vesper in Casino. Also the movie has a problem with when to put action and when to put story. The bad thing is that both have failures; the action is first too constant and then too abscent, and the story is uninteresting when I comes into screen.
Still, Quantum has a good progression overall, even if the mix of action and story is a bit clumsy, and Bond still kicks. It isn't an awful film, not even a horrible film, and definitely not a bad one, it's just a let down in comparison with Casino Royale which was pretty damn good, but an OK action film overall.
..the keyword being "OK".
