Extremely suspenceful, Highly intense and gripping on tension The Pyramid is one of 2014's best Horror films since the haunting Oculus and the Pulp, gritty violent The Purge: Anarchy its even way better than the solid Annabelle and the great Ouija.

This movie is about a group of archaeologists who discover a mysterious ancient Pyramid that no person has ever seen. As the group explores the ancient Pyramid they soon learn that this is no ordinary Pyramid they're in and they soon learn that they are being stalked and hunted down by a mysterious creature that lurks within the Pyramid for years.

Now its up to the archaeologists to escape the nightmarish maze of the Pyramid before they all get killed. I just came home from watching this film at Robinsons with my parents and to be honest I love this movie and in my opinion it is the best Horror film of 2014 since Oculus and The Purge: Anarchy.

First time director Gregory Levasseur did an outstanding job with his work on this film and he managed to create an extremely suspenceful, intense and claustrophobic Horror film that can scare your pants off and if you're bored with movies like The Mummy trilogy then this Horror film is for you.

One of the film's highlights is that the film has an astounding execution and I really thought that from the trailers at one point it looked like another found footage Horror film in the vein of the Mummy but in the end when I saw the actual film it was something else the film itself is part film and part Found footage which I think is amazing for a Horror film rather than repeating the same found footage genre over and over again until you're bored and it doesn't bore me at all thanks to Levasseur's tight directing and flawless remarks in making a Horror film he basically knows the rules and the things that Horror freaks want.

The other highlights of this film is that the movie has an extremely claustrophobic atmosphere which gives it also an eerie feeling and the camera work is marvelous (The night vision is amazing and the mini robot cam is neat) plus the film also has a couple of scenes that are extremely gory, violent, suspenceful, gripping and intense (The intense pit of spikes scene, The crawlspace sequences, The nasty Heart ripping scene, The creepy mummifying scene, The scene where the main character faces the Half Jackal and Half man creature, The cursed cat scenes and the suspenceful climax) and I also love that this film is full of puzzles that the main characters must solve in order to escape the Pyramid.

Also worth mentioning the amazing editing by Scott C. Silver and the Ancient, Egyptian like and suspenceful soundtrack by Nima Fakhrara and most importantly the significant and superb screenplay by Daniel Meersand and Nick Simon.

But the true main highlight of this film is the design of the creatures itself. All of the creatures look extremely frightening and creepy in times. I love the design of the Half man and Half Jackal creature even the cursed cat creatures are just outstanding even though the CGI is used on them(Hollywood must stop using CGI its annoying already).

Now the acting is magnificent all of the casts did an amazing job with their performances in the film and none of them were annoying and even though they make stupid decisions in the film they were not easily annoying at all and they are fully developed at the same time.

First time director Gregory Levasseur did an amazing job with his work on this film and he managed to create a superb Horror film that is frightening and entertaining at the same time it seems that the guy learned a lot from his friend and screenwriting partner Alexandre Aja when he worked on the screenplay of both his films that is the ferocious The Hills Have Eyes remake and the brutal High Tension.

I can't wait to see what he will do next since he created an amazing movie that is no insult to Horror buffs. Overall The Pyramid is an extremely suspenceful, gripping, intense, scary and entertaining Horror film that will keep you thrilled from start to finish.

This film gets a 10/10. This is 2014's best Horror films since Oculus and The Purge: Anarchy.
