Review of Pusher (1996) by Timothy N — 07 Jul 2009
What a film. Elements of indie and Dogme film styles put into a hard hitting street drama. Kind of like Mean Streets was for New York. Nicolas Refn's direction is superb and the camera work being mostly handheld gives the feel of authenticity.
The story is great. Small time drug dealer Frank (Kim Bodina) owes his buddy Milo (Zlatko Buric) 50,000, yet thinks he will be paid up after a large heroin deal. After the cops crack down on his exchange, Frank is now in for 230,000 and must find a way to get it before Milo gets impatient.
Great film about the drug trade.
