Review of Pursuit of Happyness (2005) by Devin H — 03 Mar 2014
Will Smith plays a father who made a terrible investment by purchasing a bunch of medical equipment which no one happens to want so he has trouble selling them. Eventually the money starts to dry up after selling some then his wife leaves him.
Seeing how poorly his business is doing, he tries to get a job at a stock brokerage firm, but they have a rigorous intern program which he'll have to beat many other gifted learners. At this point, he pretty much has no where to live and has to do what he can and then rush so he and his son can get a room at the local shelters.
A pretty touching movie and uplifting story. Don't get me wrong, the character made a lot of poor decisions prior to the movie which mostly got him to were he was. With that said, it's still a sad but interesting movie and performance by Will and his son are great.
Even if this is the only good performance by his son ever.
