Review of Purple Rain (1984) by Dustin P — 15 Mar 2014
A large portion of it is basically a string of music videos. The story is pretty much boring. The characters' actions are nonsensical and change at the drop of a hat. One minute The Kid is ecstatic that he received a guitar from Apollonia and literally about 5 seconds later he backhands her for saying she is joining Morris' band.
One minute Morris Day is being an asshole to The Kid and then minutes later he is dancing in the crowd to one of The Revolution's songs. It's an odd movie where I kept saying "WHAT?!?" to a lot of things that happened.
It has good music, but that's about the only thing I can praise it for. Save yourself almost 2 hours of nonsense and just listen to the soundtrack instead.
