Review of Purple Rain (1984) by Ann K — 22 Apr 2016
Love Prince! If watching this movie you have to realize that these people are singers and not actors. This was 1984. Prince actually had a hand in helping Apollonia and Morris Day and the Time get started with their music.
What you see or will see is that his home life was just like it is betrayed in the movie. To me for what year this movie was made and who was in it, they did the best acting they could. It wasn't great, but I have seen worse.
The story line to me is on point and ends well. And yes it has some of his greatest music because it was the 80's when his career really peaked. I can watch this movie several times and not get sick of it.
Some cheesy lines, good music and moves, some laughs, sad moments, sensual moments and feel good moments. If you want a great acting movie you wont find it here, but you will find what all I have said.
Princes' real life in a movie.
