Take away the music and this was a REALLY lame movie. But the music was SOOOOO damned good. There's a reason why Prince has never won an Oscar. He's a crappy actor. But the man can play the guitar like he's beating himself off.
One of the last true rock operas to come out and one of the few rock operas that does have a level of coolness if only to see how brilliant Prince can be musically. It's his ego that gets in the way of everythign else, including the God-awful script of this film.
Who the hell thought it'd be a good idea to cast Morris Day and Apollonia Kotero in acting leads???? See my point?
