Review of Purple Haze (1983) by Samantha S — 15 Jun 2009
What a beautiful, lyrical movie. College dropout drifts through his life until he finally makes a decision about it - and subsequently finds out that his best interest is in absenting himself from a choice altogether.
Use of music is superlative. Sensitively handled, makes some sense out of the Vietnam situation and the average American male's perspective. Hypnotic film, well handled by a largely unknown cast.
