Here, the danger of drug usage, the hurt and pain it causes and it's way of tearing family's apart is finally given a realistic and non-melodramatic style that is so much more effective than the Hollywood routine.

There are some towering performances here - Harry Eden, still only young, shows particular promise as a strong actor, and Molly Parker really is jaw-dropping - she creates so many dimension for her character you see she is not evil, she loves her children, but yes.

she is a junkie. The film's score is also extremely powerful, enhacing the pain and distraught of some sccenes that really are haunting to watch, almost sickening. What really makes it so is that this does happen, there are people like these characters, and some find it alot harder to overcome.
