Review of Punishment Park (1971) by Mohummad E — 20 Jun 2007
In the not so distant future mockumentary of American justice system gone wrong. Hippies, criminals and future suspects are detained, and given the choice to either serve time or 3 days in Punishment Park.
What would anybody choose? The park is the Californian desert, where they are set loose without any food or water, reach a post miles away to gain freedom. Of course they are hunted down by law enforcers, turning the whole quest into a game of survival of the fittest.
Filmed in cinema verite style, make this film a social comment of the dark side of America. A bleak film that is very realistic and possible in the next few decades or so.
