Review of Punisher: War Zone (2008) by Nick A — 21 Sep 2010
Roger Ebert said of "War Zone", "Its only flaw is that it's disgusting." Well, he was somewhat close in that statement. Its script is ridiculous, as are nearly all of the performances (Stevenson is perfect), and it's solely a one-note thriller.
But, aside from that, it views like an artwork -- one spattered in blood, of course -- and it kicks like the hardcore metal that starts sounding when Castle starts killing. And it is, in all rights, disgusting as hell.
In fact, there's zero percent chance you'll see a more persistent exercise in gore-letting action from 2008. To be as clear as I may, though, "Punisher" is a movie I'd watch over and over again (well, maybe only once or twice).
