Review of Punisher: War Zone (2008) by Christopher J — 25 Dec 2011
This movie is an orgy of violence, a true pulpy sleazy pic. The violence is over the top with a constant soundtrack of breaking bones and squishing-splattery sounds galore. This movie has it all and it understands what it is, a sheer guilt-laden ride through a comic book universe complete with humorous sidekicks, comic book colors, heroic poses, and ridiculous villains.
While Punisher: War Zone's main villain Jigsaw plays out like a second rate Joker it's his brother, Loony Bin Jim, who steals the show, hopping around engaging in cannibalism and outlandish violence.
I had such a good time at this flick. A dirty, grimy, guilty good time. Oh, wait, there's a knock at my door..could it be?
