Review of Punisher: War Zone (2008) by Brianf — 07 Dec 2008
There is really not much I can say that has not been said already on this list of audience reviews. I will say that Dominic West chews scenery as the mob king Jigsaw. He brings a love of destroying things, and he is the perfect character to battle the Punisher.
The casting of Ray Stevenson is well deserved and should have been done in the 2004 film. Tom Jane is a great actor but the look of the Punisher character is already established and he did not look the part.
This film is very true to the comic and is ultra violent. This character is well past the point of redemption and Ray Stevenson brings appropriate weight to his scenes of regret during the movie. A person should see this movie if you have ever felt that the producers and/or directors did not give a comic book movie the "authentic" look.
A great action film.
