Review of Punch-Drunk Love (2002) by Robert F — 23 Dec 2015
Punch Drunk Love:
The only thing good I could say about this movie is that at least the director thought making good cinema meant stretching out every scene for as long as he could. Three minutes of somebody looking up the street; two minutes of someone walking down a hall; five of some banal conversation that never got anywhere. Now and then he'd have some underdeveloped third grader splash garish colors across the screen so at least he could justify his bad decisions by calling it an "art film".
That's the good side. Because that meant I could fast forward through most of this tedious nonsense.
