Review of Pumpkinhead (1988) by Paul H — 13 Apr 2008
It's amazing to me that, after 20 years, this movie has held up as well as it has. The creature effects are second to none, exceeding any modern monster (not made by Guillermo Del Toro) by a mile. The story, too, is very original and interesting (it feels like Barker tale), even if the acting is occasionally wooden. The victims in the story are almost entirely demon fodder, but this is one of those movies where you root for the villain because he's such a badass.
Pumpkinhead doesn't get the recognition that Freddy and Jason do, and that's a shame really. Show some love to the big guy and watch it.
