Review of Pumpkinhead (1988) by Jason J — 19 Aug 2010
A couple of city teenagers staying in a cabin in some woods accidentally kill a man's young son with a motorbike. The kid's father played by Lance Henriksen seeks out an old woman who conjures up a vicious blood demon so that revenge can be taken on those that took his son's life. But the father realises the mistake he's made by resurrecting the demon and tries to destroy it himself.
I wouldn't call this horror movie a very good one at all. Hardly any gore and Pumpkinhead is awful - it looks like the bastard child of the xenomorph from the Alien movies! There's no scares whatsoever and the acting from the majority of the cast is terrible apart from Lance Henriksen. It's a cliched and tedious mess but the atmosphere of the movie is good. There's nothing memorable you'll remember about this movie. Give it a miss.
