Review of Pulse (2002) by Kostas G — 10 Apr 2008
Meh is all I can muster up. Once again, an American remake of a Japanese horror film fails to translate the mood, atmosphere, and pathos of the original. It's a great concept - ghosts circulating within technology and draining the living of all will to live - but everything from its "artsy" vision of the apocalypse to Ian Somerhalder's male model "grittiness" fails to ring true.
Brad Dourif shows up as a crazy guy in a diner though, so the movie perks up for about 60 seconds in the second half.
