Review of Pulp Fiction (1994) by Jordan K — 15 Mar 2015

No doubt about it, Pulp Fiction is one of the best films ever made and one of my personal favorites. Its sense of nonlinear plotlines and unique storytelling and character expressions give it a fresh and new feeling to the film world.

Pulp Fiction's real greatness is its sense of storytelling - it ends in a way that you mainly presume what happens after the final scene, and its division of chapters is unique and interesting - it gives you a big sense in one character you may not have seen too much of yet and you explore their world. The main storyline is the ongoing hitman crime in LA, focusing on the team of Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, and their colleagues in business, including a disgruntled boxer, the actress wife of their boss, and the men they're hired to kill - Pulp Fiction could have easily led to sequel after sequel, it's almost like a television series in the sense that there could be entire episodes about one character (like The Gold Watch showed us), but the fact that it didn't just makes Pulp Fiction just as amazing - two and a half hours can sum up an entire cast of characters' lives.

As I already displayed, the realistic and fascinating detail in the lives of the main characters is astoundingly good. Pulp Fiction's writing, acting, and literally everything about it makes it almost a reality. It's a film that is 2 and a half hours and still isn't enough for me, it paved the way for crime films and any genre really today and will always be one of my favorite films ever.
