Review of Pulp Fiction (1994) by Jacob B — 24 Sep 2017
Combining violence, memorable characters, great performances from its ensemble cast, gleeful profanity and black comedy, Pulp Fiction truly deserves its status as Quentin Tarantino's magnum opus. It's nonlinear narrative doesn't feel convoluted, the movie manages to have a lot of positive qualities despite a lack of action, John Travolta and Samuel L.
Jackson have great chemistry as two hitmen and the fact that certain plot points are never resolved entirely is surprisingly enjoyable because the viewer can guess for themselves what's inside the mysterious briefcase for Ving Rhames, Uma Thurman's fate after her heroin-cocaine mix-up that almost killed her or what indeed that guy Marcellus Wallace did to this one dude to have the latter thrown out of the window since giving Thurman a foot massage was just a made-up story.
An influential movie that's still every bit as entertaining today as it was back then.
