Review of Pulp Fiction (1994) by Ethan P — 18 Dec 2015
I remember the first time I watched Pulp Fiction. It was one of the first moments I realized that I loved watching movies. It's something special. It has an irresistible style and fiery energy to it. It is brimming with razor sharp dialogue, humor and a slew of rich, complex characters. It's intricate narrative brilliantly dances on the edge of darkness and every once in a while dips into madness. It immerses you in an oddly enchanting world of greed, laziness and brutality.
Some of the scenes are so compelling it's hard not to mention them. The original Ezekiel 25:17 scene in the apartment is one of rare raw power, amusing and terrifying at the same time. Bruce Willis's escape from the creepy gun store is altogether exciting and horrifying. John Travolta accidentally blowing a dude's head off in the middle of the highway. All are inventive bursts of incredible filmmaking that create something magnificent together. In all, Pulp Fiction is a dark, enthralling and beautiful thing to behold.
