Review of Pulp Fiction (1994) by Bill G — 19 Dec 2018
The robbery of the cafe in the beginning of the film sets the fast-paced action packed tone of the movie. The opening song for the title sequence was sampled in âpump itâ? by the Black Eyed Peas back in 2004.
Vincent and Jules Have a very casual conversation about the Royale with cheese, this shows us how natural Tarantino can make his conversations seem.A short while after this conversation we see Jules eating the big kahuna burger, he informs the audience that âthis is a tasty burgerâ?, burgers are a recurring topic in the beginning of the film.
The Scene with Vincent and Jules in the apartment became very violent, reminds me of Scarface. The briefcase represents desire, greed, and obsession. We donâ(TM)t know what is in the briefcase: Diamonds, gold, money, or anything you can think of.
Lots of vice in this movie, not very Catholic.Vincent Vega feels lots of desire for Mia Wallace. He has dinner with her and dances with her, but because she is married he ends up going home alone.Red apple cigarettes are a prop found throughout Tarantinoâ(TM)s films.
For Butch the white represents his father fighting and dying for him In Vietnam. When Birch shot Vincent Vega it was a very fight or flight response moment he didnâ(TM)t want Vincent to shoot him so Bruce shot first.
The scene where the gun store owner kidnaps Butch and Marcellus really bothers me.When butch decides to save Marcellis, this shows us that we can even love our enemies in times of great distress.Butch says âZedâ(TM)s dead babyâ?, the DJ Zedâ(TM)s dead was named after that quote.
Jules is a Christian man he quotes Ezekiel and says that his life being spared was divine intervention he attributes both his strength and his security to the almighty. The scene with Tarantino talking about coffee is hilarious.
Then the tone shifts when he gets upset about the âcrime sceneâ? in his garage. â~The Wolfâ(TM) is a very suave character seems like Don Corleone from âThe Godfather.â?The UC Santa Cruz Banana slugs shirt that Vincent wears cracks me up.
Vincent and Jules are eating breakfast at a diner which transitions into the robbery from the beginning of the film.Marcellus is impressively able to single handedly stop the burglars. Marcellus calls himself âthe tyranny of evil menâ?, but heâ(TM)s trying to be more like a peaceful shepherd.
This represents the good and evil within us all, heâ(TM)s trying to become more of a pacifist. In my opinion, Tarantinoâ(TM)s best film. 10/10.
