Review of Psycho (2007) by Ulla D — 30 Dec 2013
Although I love Hitchcock movies, this by far was my least favorite. Our story starts with Janet Leigh as a robber, helping her boyfriend embezzle money over state lines. She checks in for a night at The Bates Motel, which is run by Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins). Famous for its shower scene, lets just say Janet Leigh never makes it out alive.
Although I understand and respect what Alfred Hitchcock was trying to do with this movie, it's still not one of my favorites. I think it deserves all the acclaim and recognition it's getting, as it it a very well made film. I'm just not into slasher movies. I do have to say though, I saw "Psycho" in a Film Studies class, and if Hitchcock was trying to scare us, it worked. Even those of us who had seen "Psycho" before couldn't close our eyes without seeing Norman Bates! Do I like the movie? No. Do I regret seeing it? Absolutely not!
