Anthony Perkins was too cute to play a bad guy! It was pretty creepy, Norman reminded me of Dandy from AHS. Despite this it is overrated. I guess it was shocking in 1960 but some scenes were ridiculous like *POSSIBLE SPOILER* the mother's skull or the kind-of-stubbing in the shower.
