Review of Psycho (1960) by Otageemeur L — 31 May 2013
A film amongst films. I consider this to sit in my top 10 of movies within the suspense genre. From the music to the camera work, the acting to the scenes, Psycho paved the way in modern psychological horror and suspense. Hitchcock gave us a variety of thriller and suspense and having a remake of Psycho will, in my opinion, fade into the shadow of the original. What made Psycho so frightening was the musical score.
Having viewed the movie several times, I cannot see anyone else pulling of the role that Anthony Perkins played so well in. The roller-coaster rides ends with what I consider to be one of cinemas great endings. I can see how the director of the original Omen may have been influenced.
I cannot recommend this movie enough. A truly engrossing film to this day.
