A catalyst to an era of acceptance of violence in film, PSYCHO is easily one of Hitchcxck's finest. His trademark voyeurism is manifested in the sympathy-inducing, chill-causing Anthony Perkins, whose performance lies among the the greatest of Hitchcxck's villains.

The shower scene, a technical marvel based on Einstein's Soviet editing theory, is deservedly one of the most iconic pieces of film in cinema entire. With unsettling mise en scene, a "violent" score by impeccable Bernard Herrmann, and a vulnerable performance by ever-reliable Janet Leigh, PSYCHO is the horror-art film of the century.
