Review of P.S. I Love You (2007) by Michael S — 02 Feb 2011
Originally called P.S. I'm Dead, this is the story of how Hilary Swanky stays in touch with her long lost husband, Gerry "300 McIrish" Butler. Swanky is mistified when a letter appears from Whoopi Goldberg saying she has a letter from her husband.
Swanky is obviously very excited as she is easily bored of misleading poor Harry Connick "Mike Myers" Junior. Conny is well more entertaining than the deadman but Swanky remains obsessed with doing everything the letters tell her.
Unfortunately the letters turn out to be a practical joke by her mother Kathy "Misery" Bates. Swanky does a good job as greiving widow, you may presume this to be her most depressing film but that is not the case for those of us who have seen the comedy "million dollar oh-my-god-i-want-to-kill-myself baby".
Gerard Butler is reasonably annoying. Pheobe is funny playing the same character she has done for 10 years. Conny and Batesy deserve Oscars for their roles. Seriously though, its very sad but funny. I enjoyed it despite this confusing review.
Although I've heard on good authority that the book is better than the film. . . that must be cos you dont have to listen to Gerard Butler for 2 hours.
