Review of P.S. (2004) by Courtney K — 07 Jun 2005
Okay...besides the story being...awkward..?...the film itself was saved by the acting.
Laura Linney plays Louise, a woman who works for the admissions of the art department at Columbia University. She has one best friend, named Missy, played by Marcia Gay Harden, while her closest friend is her ex husband, played by Gabriel Byrne. Well, one day, the admissions office receives a letter from an applicant. His name is F. Scott, played by Topher Grace. Is the name some kind of sign? Louise thinks so. In high school, the first love of her life was named Scott...something...and both Scott and F. Scott have the same last name...like Feinstedt or something like that. Well, of course, a love affair occurs between F. Scott and Louise. So...really...the story is about the relationship between them and whether all the events that lead up to the relationship are coincidences or reincarnated fate.
Yeah...whatever. The story isn't that great at all.
The acting was so great. Laura Linney is so promising. I don't think I've ever seen her do a bad movie really. She's so convincing and passionate and talented and so confident as an actress...i really like her.
Topher Grace...::sigh::...what a hottie. He's so talented and I just love him. Marcia Gay Harden was awesome too!
