In Prototype, Dr. Carl Forrester (the awesome Christopher Plummer) has just perfected his government-backed research project, the creation of a gifted robot named Michael (played by a young David Morse) who has now been able to walk amongst the public and interact with humans.

This breakthrough leads to the interference of the military who take Michael away from Dr. Forrester and conduct tests involving weaponry. After this discovery, Dr. Forrester breaks Michael out of his lab and runs away with him to a secluded house near the doctor's old university.

The military begins an all out search for the two of them, which Michael and Dr. Forrester create an even stronger bond that is reminiscent of father and son. Do NOT let the movie poster fool you, this film is in NO WAY a horror or science fiction film.

In fact, Prototype comes off as a very, VERY tame TV movie that someone like Disney would have shown. In fact, there is NOTHING remotely scientific seen throughout this film. No robotics, no sci-fi violence, no special effects whatsoever.

In fact, there's a complete lack of tension or sense of dread throughout this overly tame film. This is the complete opposite side to a balls-out, moronic robotic action film like Transformers, that is all story and plot and no substance or eye candy that enhances the spectacular.

If one could find middle ground between Transformers and Prototype, a much better movie would be seen. Aside from that, the story is great, and Morse and Plummer are terrific to watch, but geez fellas; a little bit of action would not have hurt.
