Review of Prospero's Books (1991) by Matt P — 09 Jan 2008
This was quite a film. It's a film that does kind of have an assaulting sense of ideas and images constantly flowing through, and I can't really describe the plot in any simple terms without constantly referring to Shakespeare, but the film is magnificent to look at and does have an alarming sense of style and realization over the beauty and intensity of the human body.
The film reconstructs these sorts of audience expectations so that we are more fascinated by the idea of power rather than the actual process of gaining it.
