They should have scribbled the irritating half-hearted attempt at a love story out of the script. Why? Because there is exactly one scene in which they show that they are attracted to each other, then they wave their permanent goodbyes to each other.
Romantic thriller? Nobody is going to be romantically thrilled by this. Just admit that it's a film about a guy being kidnapped by organised criminals in the middle of a guerrilla war, and another guy comes in to rescue him.
If you fast-forward through the aforementioned scene (you'll know it when you come to it) then this is a four-star action movie which has done its research well.
