Review of Proof (1991) by Drew G — 02 Feb 2008
This is an interesting movie based on the play of the same name which uncoincidentally, Gwyneth Paltrow starred in on the London stage. She's excellent in this although her character can grate on your nerves at times.
The cast is first rate although Gyllenhaal, who I like as an actor, doesn't convince me that he could ever be a brilliant mathematician and his character probably shouldn't have been romantically linked to Gwyneth's.
This movie isn't just about math and brilliant minds, it's about family relationships and how hereditary characteristics can be very frightening. A worthwhile rental.
