Review of Prometheus (2012) by Tatsuhito K — 01 Oct 2015
Not only is this technically impressive and visually spectacular, but also an ambitious, haunting, grotesque, and terrifying sci-fi mystery that raises intriguing questions about the origin of human life, and never answers them.
It's an incredibly ballsy move. I still think this is an excellent sci-fi thriller full of dazzling visuals and visceral thrills. I cannot think of a better director than Ridley Scott, a masterclass visualist and a world-builder behind many sci-fi masterpieces such as the original Alien and Blade Runner.
Perhaps Prometheus is not as groundbreaking as those two, but one of the strength of it is its intelligence. It offers so much adrenaline boost, and at the same time it makes you use your brain. Brilliant direction, solid acting, terrific visual style, I can go on and on and on.
I've seen it at least 3 times now, and I have to say it's pretty freaking great.
