Although this film has generally been well-received by critics, audiences have been extremely divided on it for two reasons: #1--it's not the direct prequel to Alien they thought it would be, and #2--not all questions are given encyclopedic answers.

Although this film is directed by the same director of Alien, Ridley Scott, he made it clear before the film came out that while Prometheus would be set in the Alien universe, it was not a direct prequel. And just because not everything is explained chapter-and-verse in a movie doesn't mean it's bad; it's actually a good thing if a movie forces you to examine what it's really about, to the point where you might need to watch it again.

Everything in this film is top notch. The cinematography and visual effects are stunning, and the performances of the cast are fabulous. Noomi Rapace, Logan Marshall-Green, Charlize Theron, and Idris Elba are great, but Michael Fassbender is stupendous as the lone android character, David. Guy Pierce even shows up in a small role, and without spoiling what role he plays, let me just say the makeup job done on him is amazing!!

The events in this film are well-paced and played out with much suspense, like a roller coaster that has a steep climb to the top, but once it goes down, it forces you to hang on until it's all over. Prometheus is one of those films that proves nothing beats seeing a movie on a giant screen. 10/10.
