Review of Prometheus (2012) by Shane D — 27 Dec 2015
Basically, the anti-Prometheus sentiment comes from people who were likely not going to be pleased no matter what Ridley Scott offered up. I know a lot of folks who have too tight a grip on the canon of the Alien franchise and couldn't see past it and ultimately they would've hated this any which way. I will agree, there was perhaps a muddling of character's motivations. As a result some scenes jarred. Secondly, there wasn't nearly enough suspense as I was expecting nor did there seem to be much in the way of consequences for any of the bad things anyone did throughout. As a lover of ALIENS, I am not too sure I like the idea that humans and aliens share the same DNA (or engineers)...sorry spoiler alert but other than that, it was what it was. An epic sciene-fiction effort. Brilliant designs, brilliant casting, some interesting ideas, and left with more questions than answers. What else did you really want?
Still holds up pretty well under a third re-watch.
