Review of Prometheus (2012) by Sarah A — 29 Jan 2014
Great looking and it's nice to see Ridley Scott's take on a sci-fi movie again. However, it's kind of film that takes multiple viewing to appreciate.
For instance I found it full of cliches at first with it playing too much like the original Alien the first time I saw it. And I didn't understand why David did this or that.
Spoiler: but David wanted to experiment, he put some of strange DNA in a drink of the leads husband, in the name of science to see what will happen. The guy then got his wife pregnant. In doing so, a face hugger was created and then an alien in the credits. Which is all fascinating if you think about it.
Forget the bad make-up to make Guy Pearce look older or the creators of man looking not too original. Prometheus is a pretty fascinating movie nevertheless and fits into Alien perfectly. Ridley Scott doesn't consider it an origin story but it definitely is. We get the creation of aliens for God's sake. As an Alien fan, to me that is pretty cool.
