Review of Prom (2011) by Caleb C — 15 Aug 2011
The reason this classifies in the 'worst of the year' category is not entirely based on it's premesise, but it's lack of reality and false hope it gives to it's target audience. This is a fantasy tale set in the world some of us wish where a reality.
It shows everyone in high school exactly what they are missing from their life, which is in itself a fantasy that will most likely not become a reality for almost 99% of the world. I got through about 15 minutes of this trash before skipping through the rest and seeing all the cliche's fall into place and it is indeed a total rip-off of 10 thngs I hate about you, except dumbed down for a disney crowd with some very tragic performances from (key word) 'some' wasted talent.
That which is Nicholas Braun (of the brilliant series adaption of 10 things I hate about you) and Aimee Teegarden (of the once again brilliant series adaption of Friday Night Lights). Don't waste time with this dribble and watch The Myth of the American Sleepover instead which is one of the most brilliant films made last year for this years release.
