Review of Project Nim (2011) by Daryl T S — 21 Dec 2012
This non-fiction film examines the full spectrum of human emotions. From the arrogance and hubris of young scientists taking a baby chimp and trying to raise it as if it were a human child; to the sad holocaust of loneliness and solitude when that ape is bounced from place to place.
Each more grotesque than the last. This poor creature was snatched time and time again from people he loved to become part of medical experiments and other horrible things. The humans who allowed the tragedy of Nim to unfold in real life are haunted by his treatment.
And so are we watching this emotional movie hoping against hope that Nim will eventually find solace.
