Review of Project Nim (2011) by Andrew N — 19 Apr 2013
An often disturbing documentary that looks back at the story of Nim, a chimpanzee that was raised with humans from a young age to try & learn to communicate with us, using sign language. It is excellent at drawing out through the narrative just how callous & confused humans can be, especially when they think what they are doing is right a d especially when it takes a long time to learn that.
The key comes when one person realises we can learn a lot more from animals than they from us in this expertly directed, disturbing, humorous & heartbreaking film.
