Review of Project Almanac (2015) by Letty D — 03 Feb 2015
A tamer version of Project X mixed with a time travel adventure. While it's one of the minor time travel films, it's still pretty good and manages to be entertaining. The actors do good jobs (with two hot actresses playing the two main girls, I honestly thought the sister was way hotter than the love interest), and the parts where they time travel and things start to go wrong are pretty fun (although the time travel parts make up maybe only 40 minutes of the film).
My only real problems with this film is that A. There is a good deal of time before we get to any real time travel, B. The two main characters eventually turn into a dicks, C. The found footage format wasn't the best choice for this film, and D.
It's not very memorable. As I said before, Project Almanac is not one of the best time travel films out there but the creators clearly have love for the genre (as can be evidenced by the many nods to time travel classics including the actual title of the film which is a reference to Gray Sports Almanac from Back To The Future Part 2), and it manages to show time travel in a somewhat new, unique and raw way.
Overall, it's not great but it is fairly entertaining and fun.
