Project Almanac tries hard. Real hard. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite hit the mark. This is a perfect movie for teens and I wouldn't be surprised if they overwhelmingly like it. That being said, for a normal moviegoer, the movie doesn't do anything particularly unique or exciting and the part that irritated me the most was the fact it was shot with a hand cam. I understand trying to make the intense scenes seem more visceral to the audience, but the end result of the hand cam is mostly just motion sickness.

As far as the plot is concerned, they took a ton of liberties and had the characters going back in time so many different times and ways that I had a difficult time keeping up with who did what, when and where. Time travel movies have to be careful to avoid this issue, but it seems Almanac never got that memo.

Listen...the movie isn't terrible. It just isn't particularly good either. The character's plot and interactions was predictable and the ending was very, very disappointing. You will understand if you see it. Final Verdict: Not terrible, but also not even average. Wait until you can catch it on your local cable television provider and try not to pay anything to see it.
