Review of Project Almanac (2015) by Allan R — 25 Jan 2016
Project Almanac had a very cool idea with a kid finding his dad's time machine device in the basement. After that discovery things got very unrealistic, even for a movie involving a futuristic device.
Somehow these kids figured out how to finish it and make it work, stole chemicals they needed and were able to come up with tons of car batteries to make this whole thing a reality. The plot is good, up until a certain point and then it kind of loses its way and is all over the place and it becomes a little uninteresting.
There are some great moments with intrigue and suspense but the tone of film stays fairly average throughout. The characters are all very likable but they are forgettable and sometimes the shaky camera work gets a little annoying.
Its not a bad found-footage tale but it had potential that seems like they missed out on a bit.
