Review of Profile (2018) by Jimmyspeaker — 06 Dec 2021
While Profile deals with an enticing real-life story, it seems to abandon many aspects of said real life. Valene Kane provides an acceptable performance, with a cast around her that leaves quite a bit to be desired.
The film's pace is strange to say the least, at times too fast and at times too slow. I'm not entirely shocked that Profile failed to surpass its own budget in the box office - given the film's less than stellar writing.
Once more, a book translation fails at converting to the silver screen; something you think that film companies would've learned by now. Anna Erkelle's "In the Skin of a Jihadist" (Profile's influence) is far more worthy of your time and money.
