Review of Professor Marston and the Wonder Women (2017) by Hardy C — 12 Oct 2017
Outstanding film. Superfically about the development of the Wonder Woman comic book persona, fundamentally it's about a three-way relationship between a psychology professor, his wife and a beautiful young student.
Based on the true story of Professor Marston, the film thankfully doesn't go the conventional Hollywood directiion of such triangles. Instead the film deals with feminism, gay rights, love, family and social/psychological emancipation.
Sadly, we still have a lomg way to go in all these areas but the movie illustrates how some brave pioneers blazed a trail for others to follow. This film is NOT for the average comic book movie fan. If your'e expecting to see explosions, shooting and general mayhem, seek your cinematic pleasure elsewhere.
But for a frank and erotic exploration of homo sapiens, this film will offer some genuine entertainment. And lest I forget, the direction is superb.
