Review of Professor Marston and the Wonder Women (2017) by Movie M — 11 Nov 2017
Reviewed 10.14.17. We all have movies we cherish despite their obvious faults. Movies, like beauty, are in the eye of the beholder. For some, movies as garish as Fast & Furious are seen as sublime cinema.
For me, it's Professor Marston & The Wonder Women. Surely few will rank it as highly. But meld humor, romance, feminism, heroism, enduring love and a compelling historical tale with a healthy serving of 'kink,' and you'll get me every time.
All three leads are absolutely pitch perfect. A better ensemble trio in recent memory does not come to mind. It was both empowering and titillating, whilst retaining an air of decorum that keep the proceedings from falling into the salacious.
Not a simple line to walk. It was educational, but fun. Erotic, but steeped in emotional connection. I see it's shortcomings too. But as with true intimacy, imperfections don't diminish one's passion.
(subsequently deducted a 1/2 star for the exposed lack of historical veracity).
