Review of Professor Marston and the Wonder Women (2017) by Whiskeystories — 31 Jan 2018
Had my eyes rolling each and every minute. The subject matter is fascinating and its themes as timely as ever, but Angela Robinson's writing, dialogue and production is just so awful, trying so hard to be smart, edgy and cool that it just comes across phony and cringey as hell.
The film is just so completely full of itself it ruins the viewing experience making it plain unenjoyable. It concentrates too much on the "juicy" love-triangle, not doing justice to it's best feature, its source material, Wonder Woman.
The whole thing lacks atmosphere and authenticity and it's a bit too "politically" charged for my taste as well, to the point of being almost manipulative. So I disliked this film very much.
