Review of Prizzi's Honor (1985) by Jesse T — 15 Jul 2006
The best part about this movie is the performance from Kathleen Turner. Everyone raves over Anjelica Huston's performance or Jack Nicholson's performance, but their performances can't compare to Turner's.
She was phenomenal as Irene Walker, a hit woman who has betrayed the Prizzi's [the mob family in the film]. Unfortunately for her, her husband [Nicholson] is at the head of the Prizzi family. Irene is now either going to live happily ever after with Charlie Partanna or going to be killed by Charlie Partanna.
Oh wait... there's something else. She was also hired by Dominic Prizzi, a fellow mobster, to take out her husband. So this is just a mere game of husband vs. wife. They try to resolve the issue with "the family" but there is no easy way out. Someone's going to die.
A great screenplay by Richard Condon and Janet Roach makes this movie spectacular. Kathleen Turner is the highlight and Huston and Hickey are also terrific. Anjelica Huston won a Supporting Actress Oscar for this film.
All-in-all, a good movie.
STARRING JACK NICHOLSON, KATHLEEN TURNER, WILLIAM HICKEY, ROBERT LOGGIA, ANJELICA HUSTON, JOHN RANDOLPH, LEE RICHARDSON, MICHAEL LOMBARD, CCH POUNDER.. RATED R FOR VIOLENCE, LANGUAGE, SEXUAL CONTENT AND NUDITY.
Overall, 8/10 :fresh:  Classic 80s film.
