Review of Private Parts (1972) by Gretchen B — 21 Jan 2010
This movie cost $3 new at Big Lots...and I guess that is what started my thinking that this was going to be an awful crapfest. The first few minutes of the movie confirmed it for me - I was going to hate this movie.
The acting wasn't great and it had a discombobulated feel to it. You are thrown into the middle of a sex scene and immediately after, a fight without any sort of background or character development.
It takes a few minutes to even get a feel for what's going on (and this is not an action film) but then you finally get the idea and it slows down...a bit too slow really. Hang in there though, because the payoff is worth it.
The movie is about a runaway who seeks out her aunt for a place to crash...which happens to be an old hotel in L.A. that her aunt owns. The place is full of weirdo's and odd happenings. It's a quirky movie and I can honestly say that I initially judged it much too harshly.
I enjoyed this film and would even recommend it. The photographer character alone is worth the viewing.
